    To Parents, Caregivers, and Staff:

Today we were notified by the Ulster County Department of Health that one of our Duzine Elementary School students has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was in attendance today and was not experiencing any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. Upon notification of the positive test result by the Department of Health today, the parents of the student were notified and the student was picked up.

According to our protocols and procedures, those students who were in close contact with the student today (within six feet, with or without a mask, for more than 15 minutes) were notified and will need to be quarantined. The staff members who were in close contact were also notified and will need to quarantine. All impacted physical spaces have been disinfected according to our extensive cleaning protocols.

Please remember, COVID-19 symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child experiences any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and closely monitor. Consult with your child's doctor for advice whenever needed.

Once again, we urge vigilance and responsibility. Please do not hesitate to contact the nurse's office if you have any questions or concerns, however, please understand that student privacy will continue to be protected as required by law. Please contact Principal Hogan at 256-4393 or Nurse Joy Van Vlack at 256-4360.

We hope you will join us in extending healthy wishes to the student and their family for a speedy recovery process.

    Sincerely,

    Angela Urbina-Medina
