The Duzine Garden began to grow in 2008 under the leadership of Matt Elkin, Rebecca Burdett and Adrienne Maley. They enlisted a group of teachers called the “Garden Club” and together they make decisions for the garden. There is also a lot of assistance from parents and community members during work days making this garden a collaborative project. The Green Classroom is an educational organic fruit and vegetable garden at Duzine Elementary School. It is a place where kindergarten through second grade students engage in real world math, science, and social studies learning experiences while becoming actively involved in their very own local healthy, sustainable food system. For years, the garden has been a haven of learning for thousands of children, family members, teachers and community members.
