    Welcome to Kindergarten

    Dear Families,

I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Duzine Elementary School. My name is Elayne Zinn, and I will be your child’s new kindergarten teacher. I look forward to fostering a safe and nurturing classroom community where your child will develop positive social relationships and build a strong foundation for learning in a school environment.

I want to acknowledge that beginnings are filled with an array of emotions. I will do my best to provide support and encouragement to you and your child at this exciting transition time in your lives. I can be reached by sending a note with your child or by calling Duzine Elementary at 256-4350 ext. 69444 and leave a message. Your call will be returned as soon as possible. I will begin checking my voice mail on September 1st. Please inform me if anything unexpected has occurred at home which may cause your child to become anxious or upset. All information will be confidential and will be used to support your child during difficult times in his or her life.

I view education as a relationship between students, parents, and teachers. I welcome your ideas and participation in our classroom community. You know your child best and I hope to learn from you about your child’s strengths and interests. I understand that children need to feel a close bond with their teacher. I assure you that I will look after and protect your child in a tender loving way. This bond will develop over time and will provide an atmosphere that fosters security and confidence the first steps in becoming an active learner. I invite the children to call me by my first name.

I look forward to meeting you and your child for Kindergarten orientation. This is an excellent time to bring all the supplies. Please let me know if you find these supplies to be cost prohibitive.
