On March 25, 1911, a fire broke out at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in lower Manhattan, where it took the lives of 146 workers – most of them young women - in less than 20 minutes.

This tragic fire led to a variety of laws aimed at protecting workers. Among them were wage and hour laws, fire safety codes, industrial regulations – and the Workers’ Compensation Law.

Today, our firm continues the legacy of working to create positive developments out of the ashes of the Triangle Fire. Two of our attorneys (Robert Grey and Erin McCabe) are Directors of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial, which provides college scholarships of $6,000 per academic year to the children of workers who were permanently disabled or died as the result of a work-related injury. If your workers’ compensation case falls into that category and your child is in or preparing to attend college, we would encourage you to apply at https://trianglememorial.org/scholarship/.

You can learn more about the Triangle Fire and the scholarship at www.trianglememorial.org.
