Hello,
My name is Jennifer Lennon, I started here at the New Paltz Central School District in September 2021. I am very excited to be here as it was my life-long dream to be a school social worker. I have been a social worker for 20 years and feel that all of my experiences and previous positions have helped me be a great asset to this wonderful school district. I went to college in New Paltz and live nearby as I love the area. I am here to help the students and families address any social/emotional needs that may arise. Mental Health Resources at school:
During school hours if you need any mental health support, students can access the school social worker or school counselors.
We are here to help, listen and refer you to resources if needed. We are here for your social and emotional well being.
Mental Health Resources in the local and National community:
Call Mobile Mental Health for an at home assessment by a mental health counselor (not a physician), call 1-844-277-4820 between 10am – 10PM, 7 days a week.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call 1-800-273-8255 The Lifeline provides 24/7, free, and confidential support to people in distress – you don’t need to be suicidal to reach out to be connected with a crisis counselor. Crisis counselors who speak Spanish are available at 1-888-628-9454.
Crisis Text Line: If you prefer texting to talking on the phone, text MHA to 741-741 to be connected with a crisis counselor who will help you get through your big emotions.
The Trevor Project: The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth. Visit a Local Emergency Room to have a physician review your child, ask for a mental health review or psych-evaluation.
Visit the Stabilization Center 230 North Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, Open 24 hours, 845-485-9700 if you prefer not to go to the emergency room.
Contact your Family Doctor and share what your child has been going through.
Call 911 in the case of an emergency.
