New Paltz Central Middle School currently instructs over 500 students in grades 6-8 and employs over 50 full and part-time teaching staff along with a support staff which includes Guidance Counselors, a school Psychologist, a Social Worker, a nurse, office staff, Library staff, classroom aides and monitors.
Academics
6th grade students take courses in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, General Music, Art, French or Spanish, Physical Education, and may choose to be in Band and Chorus.
7th and 8th grade students take courses in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, French or Spanish, Art, Home and Careers, Physical Education, Technology and may also choose Band and Chorus.
Athletics
7th and 8th grade students at New Paltz Middle School may choose to take part in Interscholastic Sports. Modified sports include: gymnastics, soccer, basketball, football, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, cross country, swimming (Varsity only), Nordic ski, and track. If qualified by New York State, Middle School students may participate in High School varsity and junior varsity level sports.
Co-Curricular Activities/Clubs
New Paltz Middle School offers students a variety of clubs and activities including: Art Club, Newspaper, Reflections Literary Magazine, Yearbook, Student Council, Science Olympiad, Math Club, Talent Show and Co-Recs.
