Foreshortening
An interesting perspective, drawing what you actually see not what think you see.
Foreshortening is a technique used in perspective to create the illusion of an object receding strongly into the distance or background. The illusion is created by the object appearing shorter than it is in reality. The object appears compressed. Foreshortening applies to everything that is drawn in perspective, including buildings, landscapes, still life objects, and figures.Make a series of studies (5 minimum) in your sketchbook of people or objects which are foreshortened. Practice really is the best way to perfect this technique.Once you are comfortable, create a piece that shows a strong use of foreshortening, you may enlarge a study or start fresh (make a new thumbnail).Size 18in by 24in.Open MediaThe attached file has some tips that you may find helpful.
