General Info- New Paltz HS Swimming Girls 2019 season

K Seim, kseim@newpaltz.k12.ny.us (girls)The First day of practice is 19 August, 8 am, Moriello pool. In order to be eligible for the team, you must have turned in your papers and have been cleared by the athletic director. If, due to severe weather, practice must be cancelled, notice will be posted on the team web site, located under sports on the HS home page. Cancellations or changes will be posted no less than 30 minutes before practice starts.The meet schedule is on the team site- print a copy and go over it with your parents- then hang it on the fridge!The roster, section and state standards are posted on the team web site. The first meet of the girls season is Thursdsay, 29 August at the Moriello Pool. Racing begins at 9:00. To be eligible for the meet, you need to have attended a minimum of 6 practices. This is a scrimmage invitational we are hosting. The first dual meet is Friday 9 September at Rhinebeck- barring special circumstances, those not eligible for the first dual meet will be dropped from the team.High school swimming is a varsity level sport, and team members are required to attend all practices and competitions unless there are entry limits (again barring special circumstances). In order to earn a varsity letter, you must meet at least one of the section 9 standards for an individual event.Once school starts, practices move to the SUNY New Paltz pool. A bus will transport athletes from the HS (and middle school when applicable) at dismissal Monday thru Friday. Transportation is not provided on Saturdays.Practice times:M-F: HS-2:20 til 4:45 study hall/drylands/weights, then 4:50-7 at SUNY Pool. There will be buses.MS students will be picked up by the same bus at dismissal. Bus will be at the end of the line of buses.Saturday practices are 7-9 am once we move to SUNY.Athletes must be dressed in street clothes before going home after practice- do not leave wearing only a swim suit.On meet days, the bus will bring the team to and from the meet unless a parent has arranged for an alternative. IMPORTANT- to go home from an away meet in a private vehicle (all but one of the meets is away) you must be signed out by your parent or someone your parent has designated in person with a coach. To get permission for this parents must contact the athletic director.
