Melissa Manning’s Kindergarten students from Duzine Elementary tracked winter wildlife at Mill Brook Preserve recently! These student adventurers honed their observation skills, measuring animal tracks with keen eyes and popsicle sticks. Grade 10 New Paltz High School students Josh Cotter (bass clarinet) and Jack Gates (trombone) were among elite company last weekend when they performed at the New York State Band Directors' Association Symposium (NYSSMA) in Syracuse, NY. Both students earned acceptance to this group based upon outstanding solo performances during the Spring Solo Festival in 2023. They rehearsed with the High School Honors Band for 14 hours over two days before an impressive final concert on Sunday. Congratulations, Josh and Jack!
There was an incredible showcase of talent at the New Paltz High School Scholarship Concert. The band and choir ensembles brought the house down with their amazing performances. Best part? All ticket proceeds went towards scholarships for graduating seniors in the music department. Congratulations to these young musicians and their wonderful directors, Sam Newsome and Nicole Foti!
