Duzine Students Research Local Wildlife and Create Clay Animals

Duzine Elementary would like to give a special THANK YOU to Village Pizza for baking clay animals for our students! These clay pieces are part of the culminating component in Grade 1’s interdisciplinary Animal Island Unit, where Duzine students learn about animals of the Hudson Valley.

Students research local birds and mammals to learn about their defining characteristics, survival instincts, and habitat features, as well as geography, measurements, weather, and seasonal patterns. After becoming animal research experts, the students make a clay model in art class as a visual representation of what they have learned.
