About Our Fleet
NYS Department of Transportation inspects each of our buses every five to six months. We closely monitor the age and maintenance records of our fleet to ensure they are in safe operating condition. Our buses are also equipped with many safety features, including:
- Reinforced structure
- Two-way radio
- Cameras
- Strong shatterproof glass
- High seat backs (enabling compartmentalization)
- Windows that only open to 3”(thus preventing a student from putting their head out the window)
- Seat belt cutter
- Seat belts (not mandated in NYS at this time)
- Fire extinguisher
- First aid kit
- Body fluid kit
- Seven (7) external and one (1) internal mirrors
- Eight (8) safety lights for loading and unloading
- An exterior illuminated stop sign that swings out when loading and unloading
- Reflective tape (surrounds the emergency exits and along the center line of bus)
- Eight (8) emergency exits in the large buses and six (6) in the vans
- Emergency triangles in case the bus is disabled while on the road
- Handrail
- Fire blanket (wheelchair buses)
- Fire-suppression system (wheelchair buses)
