    To Parents, Caregivers, and Staff:

Today we were notified that one of our Duzine Elementary staff members has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was last in attendance on Monday, January 25 and began experiencing symptoms that night prompting the test for COVID-19 on Tuesday, January 26. As a result of the  positive test, several students will need to quarantine.  All of the families of the students involved who require quarantine have been contacted.  Notifications have also been made to the Ulster County Department of Health in accordance with reporting requirements.

Please remember, COVID-19 symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child experiences any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and closely monitor. Consult with your child’s doctor for advice whenever needed.

Once again, we urge vigilance and responsibility. Please do not hesitate to contact the nurse’s office if you have any questions or concerns, however, please understand that student privacy will continue to be protected as required by law. Please contact Principal Hogan at 256-4350 or Nurse Joy at 256-4360.

We hope you will join us in extending healthy wishes to all those who have been impacted.

    Sincerely,

    Angela Urbina-Medina

    Superintendent of Schools
